How is aesthetic treatment different for men?
The treatments are the same. The dosing, the placement and the planning usually aren't.
Men generally carry greater facial muscle mass, so neurotoxin dosing across the forehead, glabella and masseter often runs higher than it would for a woman of similar age. Units are not a meaningful way to compare one patient to another. Brow shape matters more than most people expect — a male brow typically sits flatter and lower, and lifting it the way you would lift a female brow is the most recognisable way to make a man look treated rather than rested.
Filler is where the difference shows most. In men we keep the cheek flatter, broader and lower, placing the apex further forward and toward the midline rather than high and out to the side; a lifted, rounded arch reads feminine. Most of the work happens along the lower face — building the gonial angle and widening the chin to match the width of the mouth, for a straighter, squarer jawline. In women the same product goes higher and more laterally to build a defined, lifted cheekbone, tapering to a softer, more centred chin point. Same syringe, different architecture.
We mark injection sites with the Swift Caliper rather than by eye, so those proportions are measured rather than estimated.
Hair is the other place plans diverge. Beard-area density changes how many sessions the face needs and at what settings, which is why men's laser hair removal is mapped separately from the general protocol. Male-pattern loss is also distributed differently from female-pattern loss, so hair restoration planning starts from a different picture.
Some of what men come in for isn't aesthetic at all. Testosterone replacement therapy and erectile dysfunction both begin with bloodwork and an evaluation, not a procedure.
Most men ask for the same thing in different words: to look less tired, without anyone being able to say why. That goal shapes the plan more than the anatomy does.
